Designer And Dagon Story
Since 2018, I started drawing knives on paper. And it didn't necessarily work out for me
At some point I got bored with drawing for a drawer and decided to make something out of it...
By a wonderful coincidence, I got a call back from one of good prospering local knifemaker, asking if I would like to photograph his knife... And then I asked him about a fixed blade knife for me, and there was a proposal to do some of my idea, because he was bored with his models.
And that's how, by complete coincidence, he realized my first design and then the next two.
But well, I'm a city life person and for me mainly folding knives count. On top of that I love the premium class, I love titanium as a material and also steel has a lot to talk about.
What follows is that it would be hard to find someone willing to implement my idea locally, especially since I rather like relatively complicated lines.
So I decided to start my search...
It turned out that it would be cool if I could 3D...
So I built a PC, started to learn (it is a long crossing for self-taught people) and then... succeeded!
What follows, at this point I would like to introduce you to my first realization based on sketches from very beginning of 2019.
At first of course I wasn't even think about the name of a knife I have just finished on paper. Also, with every single step I did in 3D the overall look of the knife was changing.
I'm a perfectionist and I really like consistent lines, which was also important to me in bringing the project to completition.
The lines in the Dagon are mostly arcs and most of them are equidistant from each other between the blade and the handle.
Also, I decided to create a clip as a smaller, simplified version of overall knife design, what follows, in my opinion it fits perfectly.
As closer to the final point I realised that it reminds me some predatory fish. Dagon is known to me from H. P. Lovecraft stories, he was probably inspired to the ancient Sumerian god of fishes and grains.
And here it is!
A Dagon knife in whole its glory!
I'm really, really happy of the final result and can't wait to see it in other knife enthusiasts pockets around the worl
